Rudraksha
Rudraksha is a prayer bead in Hinduism. It is a Sanskrit word consisting of Rudra (one of Shiva’s vedic names) and Ak?a meaning ‘teardrops’. Thus, the name Rudraksha means “Lord Shiva’s teardrops”. It is a seed of Elaeocarpus ganitrus trees found from the Gangetic plain in the foothills of the Himalayas to China, South and Southeast Asia(Indonesia), parts of Australiaand Iran. The seeds are associated with the Hindu deity Shiva and are primarily used in India, Indonesia and Nepal as beads for organic jewellery and malas; they are valued similarly to semi-precious stones. It is considered as a spiritual gem and it works on different chakras of human body. It balances and heal the energies and plays an important role in a spiritual seeker’s life. Rudraksha acts like a shield against negative energies.
For someone who is constantly on the move and who eats and sleeps in various places (because of business or profession) , rudraksha is a very good support because it creates a cocoon of your own energy. Sadhus or sanyasis living in the forest cannot drink water from just any pool because the water may be poisoned or contaminated so they use rudraksha to check the purity. It is held above the water, if the water is good and drinkable, it will go clockwise. If it is poisoned, it will go anticlockwise. Similarlyif you hold it above any positive pranic substance, it will move in a clockwise direction. If you hold it over any negative pranic substance, it will move in anti-clockwise Rudraksha has different qualities but the beads from Nepal origin are suppose to be the best in the world of rudraksh because of it’s unique power and positive vibes. There are clefts on Rudraksha bead, i.e. number of faces (mukh) a bead have can vary from a single face up to 21. They are used for different purposes, so it would be improper to just buy something and use it. Wearing the wrong type could disturb one’s life.
